Ayr was a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1950 to 2005. It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post system of election. == Boundaries == The constituency was created by merging the Ayr burgh and Prestwick burgh components of the Ayr District of Burghs constituency with parts of the South Ayrshire and Kilmarnock constituencies. The boundaries of the constituency remained largely unchanged from 1950 until the Third Review of UK parliamentary constituencies in 1983. The constituency covered the modern electoral wards of Prestwick, North Ayr, East Ayr, West Ayr and Kyle (excluding Dundonald and Loans). The south-east boundaries of the constituency followed the river Ayr until reaching East Ayrshire. As a result, the constituency covered a number of small villages along the north of the river, most notable of which being Annbank. The constituency also extended south-east in to Carrick to cover Ayr Hospital and the surrounding countryside.〔('Initial Review of UK Parliament Constituencies (1950-1955) Ayr county constituency' )〕〔('First Review of UK Parliament Constituencies (1955-1974) Ayr county constituency' )〕 For the 1974 general election the boundaries of the constituency were altered slightly with the south-eastern rural area (which covered Ayr Hospital and formed part of Carrick) being transferred to the South Ayrshire constituency. This area was sparsely populated and had little impact on the demographics of the electorate.〔('Second Review of UK Parliament Constituencies (1974-1983) Ayr county constituency' )〕 The Third Review of UK parliamentary constituencies in 1983 resulted in the modern electoral ward of Troon and the remaining portion of Kyle - which was composed primarily of the villages of Dundonald and Loans - being transferred to the Ayr constituency. The former electoral ward of Annbank, Mossblown and St Quivox was transferred to the neighbouring Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley constituency: this area forms part of the Kyle and Maybole, North Carrick and Coylton electoral wards. The suburb of Castlehill and the area east of Prestwick Airport were also transferred to Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley.〔('Third Review of UK Parliament Constituencies (1983 - 1997) Ayr county constituency' )〕 For the 1997 general election, the boundaries of the constituency were substantially altered in a move which saw the suburbs of Alloway, Doonfoot, Holmston and Masonhill alongside the council estates of Kincaidston, south Belmont and part of Forehill being transferred to the Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley constituency. East Prestwick Airport was transferred back to the Ayr constituency. This change led to a substantial alteration in the demographic of the constituency with the Labour Party being the main beneficiaries.〔('Fourth Review of UK Parliament Constituencies (1997-2005) Ayr county constituency' )〕 In 2005 the constituency was divided between the new Central Ayrshire and Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock constituencies: this had a significant impact on the Conservative party due to the fact that their support in Troon, Prestwick, Ayr and Kyle has since been split into two separate, predominantly Labour-voting constituencies, neither of which have attained any considerable level of support for the party to match that of the Labour party. Ayr joined two-thirds of the former Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley constituency to form Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock whilst the remaining area in the former Ayr constituency (Troon, Prestwick and part of Kyle) was joined with Irvine, Annbank, Auchincruive, east Kilwinning and the remainder of Kyle to form Ayrshire Central.〔('Boundary Commission for Scotland UK Parliament 2005 onwards Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock county constituency' )〕〔('Boundary Commission for Scotland UK Parliament 2005 onwards Central Ayrshire county constituency' )〕 The Scottish Parliament constituency of Ayr, was created in 1999 with the formation of the Scottish parliament. The boundaries of the constituency remained the same as that of the former Ayr constituency at Westminister (1997-2005) until the 2011 First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries. The constituency is currently composed of the electoral wards of Troon, Prestwick, Ayr North, Ayr East and Ayr West.〔('Boundary Commission for Scotland First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries Recommended Scottish Parliament constituencies Ayr County Constituency' )〕 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Ayr (UK Parliament constituency)」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
